The children of Uganda live in fear. Civil war has raged in their country for 17 years, and they are primary targets. Members of an armed rebel group known as the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA have been raiding villages at night--snatching children from their beds--then forcing them to serve as soldiers or sex slaves. Eric Beauchemin went to Uganda to talk with children who had escaped from the LRA and to learn what social workers and parents are doing to help them.
