Helping children and families break free from poverty

World Vision began with emergency relief work in Mongolia following severe snowstorms in 1993. In May 1995, World Vision opened an office in the capital, Ulaan Baatar.

World Vision programs focus on sustainable community development by helping families improve their food security, income, and the health and nutrition of their children. Soaring numbers of street children prompted World Vision to establish three centers for children to live in a secure and safe environment. Here they attend school, develop social skills, and begin to heal from the trauma of living on the streets.

Some 160,000 people benefit from community development and other World Vision efforts in Mongolia.
